Laptop Computer Requirements
Providence Christian College is committed to providing an environment of learning characterized by the term “classroom without walls”. In order to facilitate this educational philosophy, each student is required to bring a laptop/notebook computer that complies with the following minimum system requirements with them to Providence. Wireless internet and eventually the student network can be accessed throughout the campus. Students will be oriented to college IT use policies during student orientation.
Laptop/Notebook Minimum Requirements
- Processor: Pentium M(best) or Celeron M processor – Min 1.40 Ghz (802.11 b/g compatible)
- Operating system: Windows 2000 or later (XP is recommended)
- Memory: 512MB RAM
- Hard Drive: 40GB
- Display: Min resolution 1024x768
- Wireless card: 802.11 b/g (internal is recommended)
- Other devices:
- DVD/CD-RW is recommended (With a CD-RW/DVD combo drive, users can read DVD-ROM discs, read CD-ROM discs and create their own custom data CDs on discs that hold up to 700 MB of data.)
- USB 2.0 ports
- RJ-45 10/100 Ethernet Port
- Software:
- Antivirus software (Required)
- AntiSpyware software (Required)
- Microsoft Office Suite (Required - including MS Power Point and Access) – Use of many of the office applications are required for most classes.
