Church
So often students lose connection with a church during their college
years. While they might attend church every Sunday, they often just go
to the worship service and walk right to their car afterwards. And many
go from one church to the next, week after week, all four years. Being
an active member in a congregation is so important. For this reason, Providence
students must seek out a local church for regular worship, spiritual oversight,
hospitality, and encouragement.
As soon as a choice has been made, the student needs to notify the Office
of Student Life and his/her home church. The Office of Student Life will
then work with local churches to establish “student-memberships”
(students will not actually transfer their church membership). Commitment
to a particular church while at college is seen as important for many
of the same reasons membership in a church at home is important—for
avenues of service, spiritual oversight, and encouragement.
